A legendary scene of Zohrabai Ji carressing Noor Jehan Ji can be seen here, in the former’s stanza: Teri Zulfen Hain Kaali Kaali.

  1. Thanks for this post. This is such wonderful stuff, with the one and only Noor Jehan plus so many other great singers and such early appearances by quite a few favorite Golden Age actresses…

This was indeed the debut for Shyama. I’m not sure about Rehana – possibly (a little search reveals that she was also in Tadbir, made the same year – do you know which came first?)… But I wanted to mention – since you sort of asked above 🙂 – that it wasn’t the debut for Cuckoo, as I’ve read that she was in Mujrim (1944) and might have been in a couple of other films before this as well. (But that still is a young Cuckoo – and it was fun spotting her in that last song. 🙂 )

    • I think Zeenat must have come first, because Noor Jehan looked younger in it than in Village Girl and I think I read somewhere that Tadeer (starring Saigal and Suraiya) was made around the same time Village Girl was made. Iam also a Cuckoo fan. Please check my site soon as more and more is coming. 😉

  2. […] after a blog conversation at Vidur’s “Bollywood Fun” blog about her appearance in Zeenat, and the very next day, I saw that Nivedita was posting some songs from Hum Ek Hain, […]

  3. Howdy, i read your blog from time to time and
i own a similar one and i was just curious if you get a lot of spam remarks?
If so how do you prevent it, any plugin or anything you can advise?

I get so much lately it’s driving me mad so any help is very much appreciated.
